My TEDx Talk is now live!
May 6th 2025
I’m proud, and a little emotional, to share my TEDx talk: “Hold Onto Yourself”, a powerful reflection on being sectioned during a severe bipolar episode and how I used my camera as a tool for recovery.
I share raw, real, and often surprising moments from life inside a psychiatric hospital.
I love that my TEDx link arrived with me on hashtag lovemk day 💞

This talk almost didn’t happen. After freezing during earlier performances, I had just three weeks to turn things around.
With 12 hours of intensive mindset coaching from elite performance coach Jamie Edwards, I learned to manage anxiety and rewire my thinking. I refused to let fear steal the joy from something I love and now, I’m free of that fear!
Heartfelt thanks to:
• The TEDx Cranfield University team for selecting me, supporting me, and organising an outstanding event.
• Ife Thomas for guiding me from the early days of this talk during our Mayoral Year and showing me how to build a career as a paid speaker.
• My wonderful family and friends, especially Mick Legg and Georgia Boyd (MSc, FHEA) for cheering me on.
• The phenomenal fellow speakers who took the stage with me:
This isn’t just my story, it’s a message of hope for anyone who’s ever felt lost inside their own mind, and a reminder to “hold onto yourself”.
